How to calculate band heater power


Plastic extruders or molds must use band coil heater and should be replaced as soon as they are damaged. I can't buy the package for a while, so I have to work nearby. However, there is no clear mark, no relevant technical data can be reported, and the processing factory has no way to start.

This simple calculation method can help you solve a problem. Let's compare it:

Heating ring diameter (cm) × 3.14 × height (cm) × 2.5w = heating coil power

If your grid voltage is 220v, the manufacturer is notified to calculate the voltage according to the voltage of 230V during processing, so that when the grid is low at night, the heating coil is not easy to burn out the heating coil due to the grid voltage being too high.

Note: The heating wire should use nickel-chromium wire as much as possible. If iron-chromium wire is used, the service life will be greatly reduced.

Stainless steel band heater: 1.5-4W/cm 2

Cast aluminum band heater: 2.5-4.5W/cm 2

Ceramic band nozzle heater: 1.5-4W/cm 2

Cast copper band heater: 4W / square centimeter

Cast iron band heater: up to 6.5W/cm 2

Quartz heater element: 5.5W/cm 2
